Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to make a significant impact on the electric vehicle (EV) market with plans to launch five new electric SUVs by 2026.  This ambitious initiative is part of Mahindra's broader strategy to electrify its SUV lineup and solidify its position in the evolving automotive landscape. 

Mahindra’s Upcoming Electric SUV Lineup

Mahindra's forthcoming electric SUVs will be built on the company's innovative INGLO (INdia GLObal) skateboard platform, designed to accommodate various body styles and powertrains.  The platform supports battery capacities ranging from 60 to 80 kWh and offers fast-charging capabilities of up to 175 kW, allowing an 80% charge in under 30 minutes  .

1. Mahindra XUV.e8

Launch Timeline: December 2024

Overview: An electric version of the XUV700, the XUV.e8 will feature an 80 kWh battery pack and is expected to deliver power outputs ranging between 230 hp and 350 hp  .

2. Mahindra XUV.e9

Launch Timeline: April 2025

Overview: A coupe-style SUV, the XUV.e9 will share its powertrain with the XUV.e8 but will feature a distinctive sloping roofline and unique design elements  .

3. Mahindra BE.05

Launch Timeline: October 2025

Overview: Part of the new 'Born Electric' (BE) series, the BE.05 is a compact SUV with a futuristic design, aimed at urban consumers seeking a stylish electric vehicle  .

4. Mahindra BE Rall-E

Launch Timeline: October 2025

Overview: An off-road-focused variant of the BE.05, the BE Rall-E will feature rugged design elements, including body cladding, off-road tires, and enhanced suspension for adventurous driving  .

5. Mahindra BE.07

Launch Timeline: October 2026

Overview: Positioned as a family SUV, the BE.07 will offer a spacious interior, advanced infotainment systems, and a panoramic sunroof, catering to consumers seeking comfort and technology  .

Strategic Investments and Collaborations

To support its electric vehicle ambitions, Mahindra has committed significant investments and formed strategic partnerships: 

Investment in EV Business: Mahindra plans to invest ₹10,000 crore in its EV segment, focusing on research, development, and production facilities  .

Partnership with Volkswagen: Mahindra has entered into an agreement with Volkswagen to explore the use of components from VW’s MEB platform, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce costs in EV production  .

Capital Infusion from Temasek: Singapore-based investment firm Temasek has invested ₹1,200 crore into Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited, acquiring a stake between 1.49% and 2.97%, reflecting investor confidence in Mahindra's EV strategy  .
